SantaCon in NYC: See the drunken revelry across the years

SantaCon, the annual pub crawl where New Yorkers dress up as Santa Claus and flood the city streets, is known for its disorderly carousing crowds.

The event, which typically raises thousands of dollars for charities in NYC, has been a tradition in the city since 1997 (the first in San Fransisco in 1994) and has spread across the country and even across the world (Hanoi and Paris included).

In the past, the NYPD has warned Santas they’d be put in handcuffs if they didn’t behave. As you can see below, it’s gotten quite rowdy before.
