Two sought for brutally assaulting senior man on Upper West Side train

Cops are looking for a duo who attacked a 78-year-old man on an Upper West Side train.

According to police, at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 police responded to a 911 call regarding an assault in progress at the 96th Street subway station. Upon their arrival, officers were informed that the victim was on a southbound 2 train approaching the station when an unknown man started to play music on a speaker. When the victim asked the man to lower the volume, the suspect and another unknown woman proceeded to punch the victim several times in the face.

The suspect got off the train at the 96th Street station while the two suspects remained on the train. It is believed that they got off the train at the 34th Street-Penn Station subway station. The victim sustained bruising and laceration to his face and was transported by EMS to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital, in stable condition. 

The NYPD released photos of the suspect taken from a cellphone. The first suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, an athletic building and a goatee, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a graphic on the front, a red bandana, gray jeans, a multi-colored backpack and white Nike sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a woman with a dark complexion, a medium build, long brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket with a fur lining, a black t-shirt, orange sweatpants, black sneakers and wearing black glasses.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
