“Boardwalk Empire” actor Michael Pitt is being prosecuted in Brooklyn for various alleged sexual abuse actions dating back to 2020 and 2021, reports say.
According to ABC7, Pitt was charged with sexual abuse, criminal sex act, assault and strangulation, and was arrested back on May 2. He pleaded not guilty before the Brooklyn Supreme Court and was released on $150,000 bail, according to court records.
Pitt is due to return to court in June.
Reports indicated that the alleged abuse took place in the actor’s Brooklyn home between April 2020 and August 2021. In April 2020, Pitt allegedly sexually abused the unnamed victim “by means of forcible compulsion.”
Then, in August 2020, Pitt allegedly forced oral sex on the victim and injured them with a four-by-four, according to reports.
In June 2021, Pitt allegedly assaulted someone with a cinderblock, and in August 2021, he allegedly strangled his victim.
At this time, it is not clear if the alleged incidents were targeted against the same individual as the victim’s name has been redacted from court paperwork. The New York Post reported that the victim was Pitt’s then-girlfriend.
“Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual. We look forward to proving his innocence through the evidence and not through the media,” said Cary London, Pitt’s attorney, said in a statement to amNewYork.
Pitt had previously been arrested in July 2022 for assault and petty larceny after allegedly hitting a man several times and then taking his phone. In September that same year, Pitt was reportedly hospitalized and deemed “emotionally disturbed” after he was found throwing objects at people from a rooftop.
