Maxi Moralez is staying in the Big Apple for at least one more season, as NYCFC announced Monday that it re-signed the 38-year-old Argentine midfielder for the upcoming 2026 MLS campaign.
“I’m very happy to be back with New York City FC for another season,” Moralez said. “The club is home for me, and I’m motivated to keep helping the team and working toward our objectives. We know what we’re capable of as a group, and my focus is on giving everything I have to help us compete and win trophies this season.”
Moralez has been with NYCFC since 2017, minus a short stint with Racing Club in Argentina in 2023. He is the only player in club history to surpass 200 MLS appearances (240), and is the franchise leader in goal contributions (139).
He recorded two goals with 11 assists in 34 starts last season, becoming the oldest player in league history to start every match since MLS adopted a 34-game format in 2011.
He scored the lone goal in NYCFC’s 1-0 upset victory over the Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference semifinals back in November, punching the club’s ticket to its first conference final since 2022.
“Maxi produced a stellar season in 2025, demonstrating the consistency, creativity, and leadership that have defined his time with the club,” NYCFC’s new sporting director, Todd Dunivant, said. “Maxi continues to impact games in meaningful ways, and beyond the on-field contributions, Maxi’s experience, competitiveness, and approach around the locker room help reinforce the club’s identity. We’re pleased to have Maxi back with New York City for another season.”
