People are lining up and waiting for an hour or more for bagels on Elizabeth Street. Is the Black Seed Bagel the new Cronut”?

The new bagel utopia just opened on Wednesday, April 23 and the waits appeared right away. They have been selling out of bagels by 3 p.m., ahead of closing time.

Noah Bernamoff of Mile End Deli and Matt Kliegman of The Smile are the proprietors of Black Seed and while the popularity of their bagels – hand rolled, boiled in water and honey and finished in a wood-fired oven – is not surprising, hour-long lines for bagels can’t be the new norm. Right?
