Pardon us, “are you Aaron Burr, sir?”
Leslie Odom Jr. will answer that question once again when he reprises his iconic role in the Tony-winning musical “Hamilton” as the most infamous duelist and vice president in American history.
According to the “Hamilton” website, Odom will return for a 12-week run from Sept. 9 through Nov. 23.
In 2016, Odom originated the role of Burr, who serves as the musical’s narrator and Hamilton’s main foil throughout the show, on Broadway. The role would ultimately land Odom a Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 2016 as well as a Grammy for “Best Musical Theater Album” for his involvement in the original cast recording of the “Hamilton” soundtrack.
The announcement of Odom’s return comes as the show celebrates 10 years on Broadway.
“I kinda feel like I was born onstage at the Richard Rodgers theater. Hamilton opened on my actual birthday a decade ago. For twelve weeks this fall, starting on 9/9/25, I’ll return to the place of my birth. Gonna feel so good to be home. See you soon!” Odom wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Prior to the show reaching Broadway stages in 2015 and becoming a smash hit, Odom played the role of Burr Off-Broadway. He left the show in July 2016, alongside the show’s playwright and original Alexander Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda; and Phillipa Soo, who originated the role of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton.
For those who can’t “Wait For It,” a new block of tickets for Odom’s run of shows will go on sale on April 14 on hamiltonmusical.com.
