No other metropolis has been as central to the creation and mythology of superheroes as Gotham.
A new exhibit at the New-York Historical Society called “Superheroes in Gotham,” demonstrates how creators of comic books have been inspired by the city since the 1930s. The exhibit also serves as a reminder of the central role the metropolis has played even as superheroes have broken out of their comic book confines to movies that are popular worldwide.
