Detectives are expected to charge a Brooklyn man who shot and killed his mother inside her apartment on Monday night, according to published reports.

Police said the shooting happened at 8 p.m. on Jan. 20 inside a Sumner Houses apartment building on Park Avenue near Broadway in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Officers from the 79th Precinct and PSA Unit 3 responded to a 911 call shooting and found 63-year-old Debra White unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her face.

Paramedics rushed White to nearby NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, where she was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement sources reported that a 43-year-old man at the scene was taken into custody, and that a weapon was recovered. Several news outlets identified the man as White’s son, but as of Tuesday morning, an NYPD official declined to confirm those reports.

Charges against the man are pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
