Brooklyn detectives are searching for the gunman who shot and wounded a man inside a Crown Heights NYCHA building Thursday evening, police said.
The shooting occurred around 5:50 p.m. on May 22 in the lobby of the Albany Houses at 1400 Bergen St., according to the NYPD.
Officers from the 77th Precinct responded to the scene and found a 29-year-old man with two gunshot wounds to his left leg. The victim told police that the suspect approached him, displayed a silver firearm, and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene on foot.
EMS took the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he is listed in stable condition.
Police described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion, medium build, about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.
On Friday morning, investigators released security footage showing the alleged suspect, who was last seen wearing a black jacket, light-colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers.
The May 22 shooting is the fourth reported this year in the 77th Precinct, according to NYPD data. Citywide, there have been 247 shootings reported as of May 18 — a 13.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
