Police arrested a Queens man Thursday who allegedly broke into a 71-year-old woman’s Brooklyn home last month, attacked her, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing with her clothing, authorities said.
Servin Maradiaga, 43, of Ditmars Boulevard, was taken into custody around 9 a.m. in the 77th Precinct and charged with rape, burglary, aggravated sexual abuse, and other crimes, police said.
The arrest stems from an Aug. 30 incident in East New York, within the 75th Precinct, where police said a man entered the victim’s home near Berriman Street and Liberty Avenue through a kitchen window around 2:15 a.m.
Moments later, he walked into a nearby bedroom where a 71-year-old woman was sleeping. The intruder then allegedly choked the woman, touched her private parts, and fled with her pajama pants, officials said.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Police sources said that after sharing surveillance footage of the suspect on Sept. 7, detectives arrested Maradiaga on Thursday after receiving a tip about his whereabouts.
