Updated Jan. 15, 2020 at 9 a.m.: A 14-year-old girl from Brooklyn who went missing last Thursday afternoon has been found.
Jenna Hospedales was last seen entering the G train station at Fulton Street around 3 p.m. on Jan. 9, according to police. The NYPD said on Tuesday night that Jenna “has been located in good condition.” Jenna’s family confirmed with amNewYork Metro that Jenna is back home and safe.
An aunt, Devin Knights, told amNewYork Metro that Jenna had walked to the train station with a friend and was heading home to Crown Heights. She was last seen with her friend near Brooklyn Technical High School, at 29 Fort Greene Place, where she is a student.
Knights said her niece is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 118 pounds, with braided hair, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
She described Jenna as a quiet person, funny and very smart. “Because of how smart she is, you would not realize you’re talking to a 14-year-old,” Knights said. She added that Jenna has a beautiful smile and loves to read.
The 77th Precinct has sent out several tweets in recent days about Jenna, but an official told amNewYork on Tuesday that there are no updates at this time about the investigation.
Jenna’s mother, Jennelle Hospedales, wrote on Instagram on Jan. 10, “I was hoping with everything that I wouldn’t have to put up this post. My daughter Jenna Hospedales is missing.” After giving information about Jenna’s last known whereabouts, the post concluded, “If anyone sees her please contact me at (347) 659-3126.”
The hashtag #findjennaalexa has been started on social media for Jenna in the hope of locating her, and the case drew national attention when Whoopi Goldberg mentioned it on Tuesday’s episode of “The View.”
“If you have any information,” said Goldberg on the show, “you may not even realize that you saw her — if you think you might have seen her, please call NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline.”
