Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who intentionally struck a pedestrian with their vehicle on the Lower East Side on Monday night.
According to police sources, the shocking hit-and-run occurred at the corner of East 4th Street and Avenue D at around 11:30 p.m. on June 2 when the driver of a dark-colored sedan drove by a group of people.
Sources familiar with the incident report that the driver and the victim had become embroiled in a fist fight minutes earlier, prior to the suspect retreating to his vehicle and taking off.
After passing the group by at the intersection, cops said, the driver made a U-turn, then rammed the vehicle into a 29-year-old man.
While the pedestrian was left injured on the sidewalk, the driver sped away in an unknown direction.
Officers from the 9th Precinct responded to the incident. EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
