Police in East Harlem are investigating a woman’s mysterious death inside an apartment building stairwell on Monday morning.
Officers from the 25th Precinct discovered the dead woman at about 11:23 a.m. on Nov. 27 while responding to a 911 call for a person needing assistance inside the AK Houses at 112 East 128th St.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found the 32-year-old female victim on a staircase, unconscious and unresponsive. There were no visible signs of trauma, according to police.
Responding EMS personnel pronounced the woman dead. Her body was transferred to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have not yet identified the woman, pending family notification. The investigation remains ongoing.
