Cops cuff man who fatally shot a man in the Bronx earlier this month

A suspect was arrested for allegedly shooting a man in the Bronx earlier this month.

On Dec. 28, the NYPD arrested 23-year-old Rameek Simmons in connection to the murder of 46-year-old Robert Forrest. 

According to police, at 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 14 officers responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious man inside of an apartment at 3982 Carpenter Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found Forrest laying on the floor, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head. 

EMS declared Forrest dead at the scene. His death was later ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner.

Simmons was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. At this time, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. 

The investigation is ongoing.
