D.N.A. talk

The Tribute WTC Visitor Center will host its first public program at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. The event – held at 120 Liberty St., across from the World Trade Center site – will feature Howard Cash, a D.N.A. analysis expert from Gene Codes Corporation.

Cash will be discussing advances in D.N.A. technology that resulted from forensic work following 9/11. This includes the development of a new system of computer tools that have aided in identifying victims from the massive amounts of D.N.A. data still being retrieved at the site.

Those planning to attend may reserve a place by calling the center at 212-422-3520, extension 116. The Tribute Center is planning talks later in the year by people who have written about Sept. 11.

The center, which was created by the September 11th Families’ Association, is made up of five galleries of photos, videos and exhibits chronicling the events of 9/11 and the impact it has had on the world. It has been a popular venue since its opening last September, attracting as many as 1,500 visitors a day.
