Law in Lawyers Club
Stern & Montana. L.L.P., a law-firm, has just moved from Midtown into a 26,000-square-feet office at 115 Broadway. The firm’s new gothic office on the 20th and 21st floors was built in 1907 and is in the old Lawyers Club meeting hall at the corner of Cedar St., said Maria Marra of Cogswell Realty Group, which represented Stern.
The deal to bring the firm’s 50 employees down from 295 Madison Ave. included incentives administered by the city’s Economic Development Corp. The landmark building, one-half of the Trinity Centre, is owned by Capital Properties, Inc.
C.B. 1 meetings
The upcoming week’s schedule of Community Board 1 committee meetings is as follows. All meeting will be held in room 709, 49-51 Chambers St. unless otherwise noted.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the Seaport/ Civic Center committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. The agenda is to be determined.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Executive and Tribeca committees will hold a joint meeting at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the 5C proposed developed, developing a policy for the co-naming of streets, and committee reports.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, the Landmarks committee will meet at 6:00 p.m. The agenda is to be determined.
On Monday, Oct. 20, the Financial District committee will meet at 6:00 p.m. to discuss a proposed new canopy for the entrance of the 4/5 line at Bowling Green and the percent for art projects for the new Staten Island Ferry terminal.
On Monday, Oct. 21, C.B. 1 will hold its full board meeting at 6:00 p.m. in Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s Office, 250 Broadway, Assembly Hearing Room, 19th floor.
Health meeting
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the New York University School of Medicine will sponsor a community forum on environmental health concerns related to the World Trade Center collapse. Presentations will describe the ongoing research conducted by N.Y.U., Columbia University, Mt. Sinai, and other institutions on outdoor and indoor air quality, respiratory concerns, worker exposures, and pregnancy/infant studies.
The forum will be held from 6:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Woolworth Building, 15 Barclay St., second floor.
Fundraiser
On Monday, Oct. 29, starting at 6:30 p.m., Friends of Community Board 1 will host it’s 2nd annual gala event, “Dare to Dream II: The Benefit for Lower Manhattan” at the Regent Wall Street. The gala will honor its “2003 Community Builders”, Tim Carey, president and C.E.O. of the Battery Park City Authority; David S. Rockwell, founder and C.E.O. of the Rockwell Group; and Marilyn Jordan Taylor, F.A.I.A., chairperson and urban design and planning partner at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
