Gardeners from Liz Christy Garden on Houston St. and Bowery were locked out of the garden last week. AvalonBay Communities is building an apartment building and wants to use part of the garden for construction. Gardeners say trees will be killed during construction and are fighting with the developer and the city Dept. of Housing Preservation and Development.
