‘Hello? Yeah, I need 10,000 gallons of Pompeii red, fast!’

Tuesday afternoon, artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel, above, was spotted talking on his cell phone and walking away from his Palazzo Chupi residence on W. 11th St. and headed down West St. Meanwhile, back at the palazzo, workers were seen erecting a protective sidewalk shed, at right. Could a new paint job be in the works? Two weeks ago The Villager reported that Chupi’s color had shockingly faded from its original Pompeii red in summer 2007 to its current shade — a very, very pale pink. An e-mail query to Schnabel’s studio was not returned by press time.
