Massive transit

One of the city’s busiest transit hubs, the Union Square subway station has gotten even busier in recent years. According to the Union Square Partnership, entries and exits into the station last year totaled 60 million, double the amount from 10 years ago. This has meant an increase in foot traffic and, among other things, more litter, which the business improvement district has been working hard to keep under control.
