Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, grand marshal of this year’s Columbus Day Parade and a product of Xavier High School on W. 16th St., was joined by Mayor Mike Bloomberg along the parade route, above. Along Fifth Ave., a Brooklyn man heckled the justice, shouting, “Gore should be president…Gore is president!” and “We’re having a nice five years since you stole the election!” adding several other uncomplimentary things in Italian. Scalia heard him but didn’t react. Upon reaching the reviewing stands at 68th St., Scalia recoiled at being momentarily surrounded by the press, saying in a loud voice to his security detail, “Let’s get some crowd control and get these people out. For Pete’s sake, will you get out of the way of the parade.” Senator Charles Schumer, Bloomberg and the mayor of Milan stopped to shake Scalia’s hand. Schumer, carrying a bullhorn and an Italian flag, paused in front of the stands and called out, in Italian, “Good fortune! Today, we are all Italian.”
