Even though there are separate areas for pedestrians and cyclists on the West Side bikeway/walkway at Warren St., the State Dept. of Transportation says it wants cyclists to dismount between Warren and Vesey Sts. — a directive that is often ignored. Adam Levine, an agency spokesperson, said with construction on both sides of the path, the signs will be up until Dec. 2009 and bikers should dismount for safety reasons.
