Crimefighter at night. Dep. Mayor Ed Skyler, 35, leaving City Hall Wednesday after telling reporters about his efforts to stop a mugger in Midtown the night before. Skyler ran down and tackled someone who had just snatched a BlackBerry belonging to Victoria Kress, 41, of West Orange, N.J. Skyler, who’s a lanky 6’ 4”, held the mugger down, but then three of the robber’s friends came on the scene. Kress said they started pushing and wrestling Skyler before he backed off to make sure she was alright. The muggers got away, but Kress got her BlackBerry back and no one was hurt.
