Metropolis in Motion held a 24-hour dance marathon by Madison Square Park last Friday and Saturday to protest the city’s cabaret law. Dancing to live and recorded music, including oldies, classics and even zydeco, they called attention to the fact that it’s illegal for more than three people to dance in an unlicensed New York City venue, and added that licenses are unattainable in most areas of the city. The group held an outdoor dance party and protest in July on Fifth Ave. at 79th St., down the block from Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s home.
