Seaport building

Developers for a new residential building at 246 Front St. came one step closer to breaking ground on their small development when Community Board 1’s South Street/Seaport Committee gave their variance application a nod of approval at a Dec. 14 committee meeting.

Plans for the Aprad Baksa-designed building include seven stories on one side with a four-story through lot. With nine residential units and one commercial unit, the application was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission last year and is now awaiting approval from the Board of Standards and Appeals. Deirdre Carson, legal counsel for the developer, Micro Realty, L.L.C., said that the variance is for “some adjustments on bulk,” and will not affect height or use restrictions. The C.B. 1 committee recommended the B.S.A. approve the application without any changes.
