Shofar so good

Mendy Erez of the Young Israel Synagogue of Manhattan sounded the shofar on Monday night. The shofar is used to mark the beginning and the end of the high holy days, which started with Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, on Friday night. The 92-year-old synagogue is located on East Broadway near Clinton St. on the Lower East Side.
