Sixth grade students in the Chinese Weekend School of Transfiguration Church in Chinatown created a special gift for residents of Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, where approximately one-third of the residents are of Chinese heritage. The 14 students, led by teacher Shan He, painted a colorful wall mural of a typical South China scene for the residents of the 240-bed, nonprofit E. Fifth St. nursing facility. Shown displaying the painting are C.C.N.R. residents (seated, left to right), Lin Ying Tong, Ow May Shueng and Zhen Yu Luo, and, standing, Transfiguration Chinese Weekend School principal April Chan and teacher aide Pauline Eng, C.C.N.R. pastoral care associate Beatrice Fung, also a member of Transfiguration Parish, and Sr. Nadine Koza, C.C.N.R. pastoral care director.
