Detectives have charged a suspect in a deadly Chinatown stabbing on Saturday afternoon.
Feizhon Zheng, 50, of Monroe Street faces murder charges for the fatal attack, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 at 7 Eldridge St.
Officers from the 5th Precinct rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 call regarding an assault. Upon arriving at the location, they found the victim, a 69-year-old man, stabbed in the back.

EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, but he rapidly deteriorated and was later pronounced dead, it was reported. Police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.
Cops took Zheng into custody during the preliminary investigation and brought him in for questioning. He was later booked for the deadly stabbing.
The motive for the murder remains unknown at this time, police sources said Sunday. It is not clear whether Zheng and the victim knew each other previously.
Through Sept. 28, the 5th Precinct reported just two homicides year-to-date, one more than the total at the same point last year. Felony assaults in the command, however, are up 20.7%, from 174 incidents last year to 210 so far in 2025.
