Police on Staten Island are looking for two jewelry thieves who robbed a store on Friday afternoon and brutally beat a senior worker for $5,000 in loot.
According to police sources, the two suspects walked into Sunrise Fine Jewelry, located at 302 New Dorp Lane, just before 4 p.m. on May 30.
Once inside, cops say, one of the brutes walloped a 70-year-old female store worker over the head with a blunt object, knocking her to the ground.
Following the attack, law enforcement sources said, the pair began stuffing a shopping bag full of items from a display case, totaling about $5,000, before casually walking out of the storefront.
The robbery was later reported to the 122nd Precinct. EMS rushed the victim to Staten Island University – North Campus hospital with a laceration to the head. She was listed in stable condition.
Police said the two suspects were seen wearing all-black clothing with sunglasses; one of the men donned latex gloves.
No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
