The New York Yankees get right back into the dirt and grass at the ballpark for Game 2 of the American League Division Division Series (ALDS) for the first game on today’s MLB schedule at 4 p.m. ET in Toronto, Canada. The Yankees can take some solace from the fact it was a one-run ballgame in the seventh inning before the Blue Jays busted things wide open with a four-run eighth inning. New York must respond tonight in Game 2, otherwise, Yankees fans will be once-again watching an elimination game from Yankees Stadium on Tuesday night.
Game 2 Starters – Max Fried vs. Trey Yesavage
Yankees manager Aaron Boone hands the ball to his most-trusted starting pitcher, Max Fried, ahead of a crucial game in this ALDS. The 31-year-old lefty did not receive a decision in the Yankees postseason opener despite 6.1 shutout innings. Fried gave up four hits, but things unraveled when Boone turned things over the the bullpen. Fried has handled the Blue Jays lineup pretty well in his career, but watch out for Blue Jay’s infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who has some solid numbers against New York’s starter. Toronto’s slugger is 5-for-20 all-time against Fried with three doubles and five RBIs.

The Blue Jays send a 22-year-old rookie to the hill for Game 2 of the ALDS series against the Yankees. Trey Yesavage appeared in three games for Toronto this season. He logged 16 strikeouts over 14 innings with a 3.21 earned run average (ERA) in the limited sample size of MLB action. The Pottstown, Pennsylvania-native limited opposing hitters to a .236 batting average and a .273 slugging percentage during his three appearances for Toronto this season.
Yankees vs. Blue Jays Spread
Despite yesterday’s resounding victory in Canada, the spread remains the same at -1.5 runs against the hometown Blue Jays. The over/under line jumps slightly from 7.5 runs in Game 1 to eight runs for Sunday’s Game 2. This is the first time this playoffs that the Yankees over/under figure has moved from the starting figure (7.5 runs).

Yankees Home Run Odds in Game 2
Yesavage has done well to limit significant hits off him during his short MLB tenure. He has allowed 13 hits this season, but just two extra base hits in 2025. The postseason is an entirely different atmosphere, so whether or not the Blue Jays righty will be able to keep his composure against a powerful Yankees attack will be a big situation to monitor in Game 2. New York sluggers have the five best odds to smash a round-tripper on Sunday:
Aaron Judge |

Giancarlo Stanton |

Ben Rice |

Game 2 Prediction – Yankees 8, Red Sox 2
Well, yesterday’s one-run prediction was totally off – so let’s go the opposite direction for Game 2 of the ALDS. New York stacks a lead for their ace by stringing together some hits against Toronto’s rookie starter, largely powered by another big base hit from Aaron Judge. The series returns to the United States with the series even at one after a powerful offensive performance from the guys wearing the road grey uniforms with “NEW YORK’ stitched across the front.
