Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Anthony Volpe went back-to-back in the seventh inning, providing just enough as the Yankees squeaked out a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

In a 1-1 game, Chisholm deposited a Tanner Bibee fastball into the right-center-field seats — quite a welcome back from a month-long stint on the injured list after dealing with a strained right oblique. He missed 28 games in total.

Just six pitches later, Volpe jumped on a sweeper that snuck into the left-field seats. It was the fifth time this season that the Yankees (37-22) went back-to-back, which is tied for the MLB lead.

Devin Williams, who is back in the closer’s role after Luke Weaver suffered a hamstring injury, managed to pick up his sixth save of the season, but not without some drama. He allowed a Carlos Santana one-out double before pinch-hitter Daniel Schneemann drove him home with a single with two outs.

Bo Naylor flew out to end the threat and the game for the Yankees’ 11th win in their last 14 games.

Yankees starter Carlos Rodon won his seventh straight decision behind another sterling effort. He allowed one run on five hits in seven innings of work with eight strikeouts and a walk. His scoreless streak of 20 straight innings, and a Tuesday-night streak of 17 straight batters faced, was snapped when David Fry’s RBI single scored Jose Ramirez from second.
