Urbanspace at 570 Lex opens in midtown east with 19 vendors

  • Bobwhite, the Alphabet City lunch and supper counter serving fried chicken and soul food sides made from sustainable ingredients, has decorated its stall with some unique, foul-decorated wallpaper.

  • The team behind the wildly popular Japanese ramen chain Ippudo is opening its second Kuro-Obi stall with Urbanspace. (The first is at the Vanderbilt food hall.) In addition to noodles, Kurbo-Obi will serve snacks like steamed pork buns and fried octopus balls after 3 p.m.

  • Dorado, the counter-serve Mexican spot serving fish tacos and quesadillas out a tiny space near Union Square is bringing its Baja California aesthetic to Urbanspace @ 570 Lex with a corrugated tin awning and stenciled roses. It will open early to offer breakfast tacos.

  • Bao by Kaya has set up shop at Urbanspace's seasonal outdoor markets, but its stall in the new food hall is the vendor's first brick-and-mortar location. It features light bulbs encased in bird cages.

  • On the menu at the outpost for Australian cafe Little Collins, you can expect to see avocado toast and plenty of coffee. The stall, which is decorated with emotive tea cups, will open at 6:30 a.m. to serve the breakfast crowd.

  • At Top Hops Beer Shop's counter, you will be able to top off your crowler (a giant 32-ounce can) and order bratwursts and pretzels.

  • GoFish, a fast-casual spin-off from BondSt, a well-established, high-end sushi restaurant in NoHo, is starting out with hand rolls and tuna

  • Rockaway Clam Bar, a concept from the folks behind the nautical-themed Redhook joint Lobster Pound, did a test run at the Riis Park Beach Bazaar in the Rockaways over the summer. At the new food hall, its first brick-and-mortar outpost will serve fried clams and tater tots, among other beachy eats.

Another new food hall opened in New York City on Wednesday, March 28, this one inside the historic General Electric building at 570 Lexington Ave. in Manhattan. Urbanspace at 570 Lex will eventually feature 19 vendors and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
