Actress Chloë Grace Moretz and her boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham, son of former soccer star David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, reportedly have broken up.
According to multiple reports including E! News and Us Weekly, Moretz, 19, and Beckham, 17, were last seen together publicly July 31 at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Moretz, who will play the title role in Disney’s planned live-action version of “The Little Mermaid,” has not commented on social media about the reported split. Beckham has also not commented on social media.
Moretz had addressed relationship rumors in September 2014 on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” responding to host Andy Cohen’s question as to whether Beckham was her boyfriend. “Um, I don’t know,” she said. “He’s a very good guy. He’s a good person. I enjoy hanging out with him.”
She went on to say on “The Talk” in May that she and Beckham had “been off and on together for a couple of years now, and we just kind of made it official,” adding, “We were always running from paparazzi and running from people taking pictures of us. And we were like, ‘You know what? It’s affecting our relationship.’ ”
She said the two, who reportedly met at a SoulCycle class in August 2014, were unable to “go to the restaurants we wanted to go to or just go to a movie,” and so thought, “If we’re more upfront about it and we break down the iron curtain and we just let them take our photo, they’re not going to care.”
As recently as the September issue of Glamour magazine’s UK edition, Moretz said, “One of the reasons we’re dating . . . is that we both get what it means to have our lives twisted and torn apart and faked.” She added, “Seriously, you don’t know how often I’m just described as ‘his girlfriend’. And you think: ‘Well, I’ve also been acting for 13 years, but don’t worry.’ ”
