Rapper Fetty Wap has been arraigned on a slew of charges — from reckless endangerment to speeding to driving while intoxicated — after being arrested in Brooklyn early Friday, court records show.
The “Trap Queen” rapper was spotted by police driving his 2012 Mercedes Benz west on the Gowanus Expressway near Hamilton Avenue around 1 a.m., police said. He weaved in and out of traffic lanes as he raced another driver, causing other cars on the road to suddenly brake and swerve, according to charges filed by the Brooklyn district attorney’s office.
Fetty, whose real name is Willie Maxwell II, was observed driving as much as 55 mph over the speed limit, the official complaint said.
After being pulled over, he presented police with a suspended New Jersey license, the NYPD said. The officer gave the 26-year-old a field sobriety test after noticing signs of intoxication. He blew a .09, cops said.
The rapper was arraigned Friday, where the district attorney asked for $26,000 bail, a spokeswoman said. The judge released Maxwell without bail and on recognizance.
The Paterson, New Jersey, native, broke into the Billboard Hot 100 five times since his 2015 self-titled album. His hit “Trap Queen” peaked at No. 2 in May 2015.
Last month, Fetty released a new mixtape, “For My Fans 2,” featuring 11 tracks, and teamed up with Cheat Codes to release the single “Feels Great.”
