John Mayer: Botox helped heal vocal chords

John Mayer had resorted to Botox.

In a recent interview with "Elvis Duran in the Morning" on Z100, the seven-time Grammy award winner described how the chemical most commonly associated with plastic surgery was in fact, the unusual therapy method that helped finally heal his damaged vocal chords.

"What I had was basically a blister, but in the worse place you could get it. It was right where my voice was banging up against itself," Mayer told the radio host.

"I had surgery [but] it didn’t work. And what fixed it was getting Botox in my throat. It chemically paralyzed my vocal chords so it could heal."

And heal it did. August marked the release of "Paradise Valley," the crooner’s triumphant return after a year away, followed immediately by a national tour.

And with that tour stopping tomorrow at Barclays Center we help get you ready with the essential Mayer tracks to add to your playlist before the show.
