Two bands are coming together for a night of celebratory fun next weekend in the East Village.
On Saturday, May 10, local musicians Theophobia and Josephine Network will take the stage at the Parkside Lounge, located at 317 E Houston St., for a one-night show celebrating the birthday of Theophobia’s co-lead vocalist, Dylan Mars Greenberg.
The event has been organized by Wet Spot, an arts collective and concert series that works closely with Parkside Lounge. Established in 1908, the Parkside Lounge is one of the oldest independent music venues in the city and has been named one 50 best dive bars in New York by New York Magazine.
Theophobia was formed in 2019 by childhood friends Greenberg (vocals) and Matt Ellin (guitar/vocals), blending together glam rock, new wave and theatrical elements. The band grew in 2023 to feature a full band with new members Alan Worm, Chris Michaels, Nick Cereola and Michael Butterly. The band was recently featured on the Australian national televised program “Rage,” Rodney Bingenheimer’s Underground Garage on Sirius XM, and programs on WFMU and WFUV.
Josephine Network is a project of Josephine, a New York-based singer/songwriter and musician producing a unique blend of pop and rock. Her live band contains members of Brower, SUO, and Dirty Fences. Her music has been featured on NPR’s This American Life, and the band played the Funtastic Dracula Carnival in Spain in 2022 and Menorca’s Cranc Festival in 2024.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online for $15, and can be purchased at the door for $20.
