Fashion Week Fall 2015: Must-see runway looks and show reviews

  • Celebrating his tenth year showing at New York Fashion Week, Naeem Khan did not hold back. The opening of his runway was decorated with decadent curtains of Swarovski crystal and opened to reveal a bonafide graffiti artist painting the backdrop. The show, said Khan in notes, was intended to “highlight traditional artisans in India,” and “luxury European fabric makers.” Almost every look was laden to the max with sequins, stones applique and beads (you could almost hear the models jingle when they walked). There were some beautiful black tie gowns and dresses and some outlandish looks too -- a white satin and sequined waistcoat with floor grazing tails (hello Grammys) and the final ensemble that only superheroes or super models could pull off – a crystal beaded romper with a fluttery cape.   • An homage to Patti Smith and the artist/rocker scene in the late ‘60’s and 70’s, Minkoff’s girls were tough but sexy strutting the runway with major attitude in everything from short shorts paired with curly wool-lined jackets to fringy separates and dresses to vivid ensembles inspired by guitar strap prints. Live music by Marian Hill, a trio, (fabulous!!) added to the groove. – Anne Bratskeir
