A Brooklyn man faces assault charges for violently stabbing a 35-year-old man inside a Manhattan bodega early on Sunday morning.
Police said that Goni Guzman, 30, of 52nd Street in Sunset Park turned himself in to the 10th Precinct on March 9, hours after he was identified as the prime suspect in the March 8 stabbing in Chelsea.
Law enforcement sources said the attack happened at 12:30 a.m. on March 8 inside the grocery store at 201 West 14th St.
According to law enforcement sources, the 35-year-old victim got into a dispute with Guzman’s acquaintance. As the argument turned heated, sources familiar with the investigation said, Guzman intervened — and subsequently went on the attack.
Guzman alleged stabbed and slashed the 35-year-old victim near the store’s entrance. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso and slash wounds to his arms.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Police released video of the attack on Sunday.
