Cops are on the hunt for the suspect behind a stabbing at a Lower Manhattan subway station early on Wednesday morning.

According to police sources, the incident unfolded at the Broadway-Lafayette St station on the B/D/F/M lines at around 5:21 a.m. on Jan. 28.

Authorities said the victim, a 51-year-old man, became embroiled in a verbal dispute with the suspect, described as a man between 20 and 30 yearss of age, while on board a southbound train.

The clash turned physical and, after the train arrived at Broadway-Lafayette St, spilled out onto the platform — where, sources familiar with the case said, the perpetrator pulled out a knife and stabbed the 51-year-old in the back.

Following the attack, cops said, the assailant fled to parts unknown. No further description of the perpetrator was immediately available.

Officers from the 5th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 4 responded to the incident. EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for his injury and listed in stable condition.

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.
