Knife fight in Soho

Police arrested a man they say slashed a victim in Soho last week at about 3 p.m.

It started when the suspect, 19, approached a 20-year-old man at the corner of Broome St. and Sixth Ave. on Tues., Nov. 18. The accused, who resides in Harlem, began arguing with the other man, from the Upper East Side, and his friend, from White Plains.

Police say he then pulled out a pocket knife and waved it at the other man, who tried to punch the suspect to defend himself. Police say the suspect used the knife to slash the other man in the abdomen and on the right side of his neck. They did not say how seriously the victim was injured.

Police arrested the suspect, but could not find the knife that he used. Police did not say if the incident was connected to the nearby high school.

The 35-year-old owner had parked his 2012 black bike near his residence at the corner of Prince and Sullivan Sts. on Sun., Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. When he returned at 6 p.m., the motorcycle, which had custom gold metal flake paint, was gone. Police conducted a canvass but it yielded no result.

Grand old time with gift cards

It was reported to police on Nov. 20. However, police say, that the institutions did recoup the charges totaling $9,139.

Two caught, two headed to Alaska?

One coat thief left his name and phone number with a Soho store before he fled last Friday, but he got away, and it was actually two of his three accomplices who got caught last Friday.

The four-member team nabbed two coats worth $1,900 Nov. 21, but two teen suspects were caught and arrested.

Two employees at Mackage, which sells luxury accessories and coats, at 123 Mercer St. said that the four — two men and two women — stole the coats on Fri., Nov. 21 around 12:30 p.m.

While two of the team fled in an Acura with Alaskan plates, a man and woman, both 15 and from Brooklyn, were arrested.

Shoplifting crimes in Soho

When a 31-year-old female employee turned her back, a man stole a yellow and white stone bracelet, valued at $6,400, from Versani, a jewelry store at 152 Mercer St. in Soho two weeks ago, police said.

On Mon., Nov. 11 at around 2 p.m., the man posed as a customer, asking to see a necklace. The employee obliged and opened the jewelry showcase. Police say when the moment was right, he snatched the bracelet and hid it on his person. The theft wasn’t reported until Nov. 22 and police say that there is video surveillance of the store.

Also in Soho, two men working together stole a jacket, scarf and dress worth $1,665 from Vivienne Tam at 40 Mercer St. on Sun., Nov. 23 at 11:40 a.m. Police say the suspects fled on Mercer.

Subway thief caught

Last weekend, a police officer witnessed a 41-year-old Queens man remove a $200 Apple iPhone from a sleeping passenger, a 37-year-old Bronx man, as the E train was leaving the World Trade Center.

Police say the train was held at the next stop, Canal St., and the officer arrested the man, on Sat., Nov. 22 at 1:50 a.m. Police say the officer recovered the iPhone, which was hidden in the man’s left sock and the suspect had two open warrants.
