* The 18th Amendment [Prohibition] will be put out of its misery Nov. 7, when six states vote upon its repeal. As only three more states are needed, and as thus far not a single one has registered a desire to retain the noble experiment, the result is a foregone conclusion. Dec. 5, therefore, which is the day the states which vote in November will ratify the decision of the voters, will see the end of the farce. The states which vote Nov. 7 are North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Utah.

* The Greenwich Village Historical Society will hold a Hallowe’en party at the Black Cat restaurant, Tuesday evening. There will be dancing and an entertainment suitable to the occasion, including fortune telling.
