Work on a subway ventilation system at 13th St. at Sixth Ave. that has clogged the street for four years is finally slated to be completed at the end of this month, according to New York City Transit. There may still be some work left under the street level, but the road itself and the sidewalks will be paved and back to normal by June’s end, Transit says. The project began in early 2002 and surface-level work was initially slated to be complete by the start of 2005, but the project fell a year-and-a-half behind schedule. Another subway ventilation project that caused a similar bottleneck at E. Houston St. between Elizabeth St. and the Bowery has also just been completed.
