Bonnie Schwartz, owned Tribeca

coffee and sandwich shop, 52

Bonnie Schwartz, owner of Downtown Delicious, located at 327 Greenwich St., died Aug. 1 due to complications caused by cancer. She was 52. She is survived by her husband, Martin Schwartz, and her friend and business partner, David Fischer.

“She was a very good neighbor. Her store had many regulars who would come in for their daily coffee and sandwiches made fresh by David,” said Yvonne Fox, owner of Dudley’s Paw pet store next door.

Fox said Fischer and Schwartz adored each other and would lovingly tease each other as they enjoyed working together.

“The store has been in the same spot for about four or five years. Bonnie was a very lively women and it came as a shock to many of us when she passed away,” said Stephen Wiley, an employee at Dudley’s Paw.

Fischer said that he and Martin Schwartz plan on keeping the store going.

“Bonnie Schwartz was a strong supporter of the Tribecca Organization. She was really friendly and sweet,” said Sharon L. Decker of the Tribeca Organization. “She believed in the revitalization of Tribeca.”

Schwartz’s life will be celebrated at a Sept. 13 memorial tribute at Downtown Delicious. In place of flowers, people are asked to send donations to a charity of their choice.
