Correction: Seaport plan won’t need to prove hardship

An article in the Oct. 3-10 issue incorrectly described the review process General Growth Properties faces for its South St. Seaport project (“General Growth backs school as it readies for landmarks”). The article stated that General Growth would have to prove a hardship to get a variance from the Board of Standards and Appeals to build a 495-foot tower on the site of the New Market Building, a site with a height limit of 350 feet. Instead, General Growth will seek to amend the city’s zoning code to create a special permit to allow for their waterfront tower. General Growth would then apply for that permit.
