Feeling the heat

Early Friday, about 12:30 a.m., a Ninth Precinct police car going eastbound on Houston St. between the Bowery and Second Ave. went up in flames. The two officers in the car had been driving along, smelled smoke and managed to get out just in time. Firefighters from Engine 33 and Ladder 9 arrived on the scene to extinguish the car.
