Hagler blasts Bluth petition challenge

Housing Court Judge Shlomo Hagler, Democratic candidate for Civil Court Judge in the Second Municipal Court District, blasted one of his rivals for attempting to knock another candidate off the ballot.

Through his campaign manager, Hagler faulted Arlene Bluth for challenging the petitions of Virginia Kolodny.

“Arlene Bluth has turned the logic of this judicial race on its head,” said Hagler campaign manager Michael Oliva. “She’s using obscure technicalities to disqualify [Kolodny’s] signatures.”

Jerry Skurnik, a consultant for Kolodny, said that although the Board of Elections hasn’t ruled on Bluth’s challenge to Kolodny, “the Clerk’s report indicates that we do have enough signatures to stay on the ballot. So the statement by Bluth’s campaign manager, Micah Lasher [in last week’s Villager] that we don’t have enough signatures and did not follow the law, is incorrect.”
