Hearings on Gerson bills coming up

City Councilmember Alan Gerson has two hearings coming up on legislative initiatives he has proposed. The Dignity in All Schools Act for New York City (Int. 188) is scheduled for a second hearing before the Council Education Committee on Mon., April 26, 1 p.m. in the Council Chambers. A vote to pass the bill out of committee and send it to the full Council is anticipated, with passage by the Council to follow at the next full Stated Council Meeting. The “Grab Bar Bill,” Int. 58, is scheduled for a hearing on Mon., April 19, at 1 p.m. also in the Council Chambers. This bill will mandate the installation of grab bars in the bathtubs and adjacent to toliets for seniors and people with disabilities upon request. A press conference at 12:15 p.m. will precede the hearing.
