LaGuardia homicide Police arrested Jonathan Maldonado, 21, on Wed., March 11 and charged him with stabbing a New Jersey man to death on March 7 at Clinton and Cherry Sts. after an argument at a baby shower in the LaGuardia Houses.
The victim, Steven Boysen, 21, of Willingboro, N.J., was stabbed in the torso after he left the baby shower at 10:42 p.m. Saturday, police said. He was declared dead on arrival at New York Downtown Hospital.
Maldonado, a resident of the LaGuardia Houses, was charged with first degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Police did not say what caused the argument.
Friday drug sales N.Y.P.D. narcotics squad police raided the T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant at 47 Broadway, Mon., March 9 and arrested two suspects charged with selling cocaine and marijuana from the restaurant bar for the past few years.
Tony Younge, 50, was charged with 16 counts of selling cocaine in the restaurant bar to undercover police and to at least three others buyers who have been separately charged with cocaine possession, according to the complaint.
Alvin James, 48, was charged with four counts of selling marijuana. James talked with his marijuana customers and accepted their money at the restaurant bar and delivered the pot from a car parked on Rector St., according to the criminal complaint filed by the New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor.
Younge was held in lieu of $100,000 bail and James was held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The restaurant was still padlocked on Wednesday.
Burglary arrest Police arrested Norberto Sepulveda, 25, on Feb. 26 and charged him with burglary and larceny for two break-ins on the Lower East Side. The suspect was charged with breaking into an apartment on Eldridge St. on Nov. 7 and making off with two rings, two necklaces, a laptop computer and $1,300 in cash.
On Tues., Feb. 17, he entered a woman’s apartment on E. Third St. and was about to leave with credit cards, a ring and a necklace and $210 in cash when the resident returned home, saw him and screamed, according to the charges. Sepulveda gave the woman back the cash and fled, police said. He was recorded on a surveillance camera tape and identified by the E. Third St. victim, police said.
Bank robbery Police are looking for a man suspected in nine armed bank robberies in Manhattan since January. The latest was on Sat., March 6 when the suspect walked into the Sovereign Bank branch at 2 Gold St. at Maiden La. at 9:45 a.m., waived a handgun in a teller’s face and fled with an unspecified amount of cash, police said. The suspect, described as between 25 and 30 years old, 6’3” about 180 pounds, is also believed to have passed a note demanding money to a teller at a bank branch at 2 Wall St, at 4:18 p.m. Tues. Feb. 17 and fled with an unspecified amount of cash.
