Last Saturday’s nasty Northeaster, and the wet snow and strong winds that came along with it, resulted in tree damage that more closely resembled the aftermath of a hurricane than did Tropical Storm Irene.

The freak October storm damaged over 1000 trees in Central Park alone. Throughout the five boroughs trees also fell across neighborhood streets (like the one above on Sullivan Street in SoHo) damaging cars and buildings.
