The Kiboko Projects of St. Mark’s Church, an intergenerational cultural exchange project involving Lower East Siders, will be presenting “The Diary Project: Kenya 2004,” four videos, this Saturday and Sunday. The videos — which all focus on stories and storytelling — were created by Kenyans living in Kenya. Two of the videos involve families and youth suffering from H.I.V./AIDS. One of the videos focuses on young women. Another involves students in an urban school in Nairobi, focusing on problems the students face, including drugs, H.I.V. and female circumcision. Mark Scheflen, artistic director of the Kiboko Projects, and Jill Raufman, the projects’ executive director, produced the videos. School children from Lower Manhattan will be responding to the videos, and will make photo diaries and face masks that will be taken to Kenya and exhibited there. The projects recently got a grant of $10,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts.
