Keith McNally’s new West Village Italian restaurant, Morandi, is slated to open this week at 15 Charles St. Last week, as owner McNally sat through the meeting, Community Board 2 unanimously voted to recommend approval of a sidewalk cafe with 19 tables and 38 seats for the restaurant. Residents of 15 Charles St. spoke at the meeting, saying they felt McNally — owner of popular restaurants Pastis and Balthazar — would be a good operator, but some expressed concerns about noise. McNally assured he would close the sidewalk cafe at 11 p.m. every night and that no patrons would be allowed inside the restaurant after midnight.
